All the Wireless Network Access Points managed by Information Services provide the SSIDs eduroam and central for use by members of the University of Edinburgh.
Visitors registered locally may use SSID central.
Visitors from participating JANET roaming/eduroam sites may use eduroam.

The vast majority of the Wireless Network Access Points have both 802.11g and 802.11a radios. The remainder have 802.11g only.
NB The 802.11g radio is compatible with 802.11b wireless cards.

There are many conditions which affect the strength of a wireless signal. If your signal is poor, you should attempt to find the exact location of the Access Point and if possible get closer.

Please note that when using an Access Point within a library, you will get a very poor signal when surrounded by metal stacks.
